Generic Function:
Media Censorship:
Foreign services
Technical Functions:
- Collecting Data concerning political, economic and social issues, in the service of the government
- Analyzing the supplied information, in order to better employ the above-mentioned in multiple areas
- Participating in Judicial investigations within the limits of threats against internal and/or external state security
- Supervising the preparation and implementation of security measures
- Fight against anything that can jeopardize security: by closely investigating all sabotage acts and chasing after anarchy militants, and rumor spreaders, that attempt to endanger national security
- Fighting dissolved parties, but also secret prohibited associations
- Preparing notices and pursuits related to investigations, to entry ban, or to travel ban
- Participating in the surveillance of the territorial, maritime and aerial borders
Media Censorship:
- The surveillance of audiovisual Media, and the prior inspections of films
- In charge of studies related to the organization and implementation of the surveillance that printed press is subject to, as well as audiovisual inspections
- Ensuring the proper implementation of laws and regulations
- Ensuring the right implementation of the laws and rules related to media censorship
Foreign services
- Providing the facilities required by foreigners regarding the delegations, missions, invitations and meetings in which Arab and foreign visitors are involved
- Monitor the entry of foreigners to Lebanon, their stay, their residence, and their departure, attempting therefore to ensure their security
- Preparing the correspondences related to the deportations of foreigners and incidents that hamper and compromise national security
- Coordinating with foreign missions in Lebanon
- Establishing a linkage between embassies & diplomatic missions whether they’re Arab or foreign, and regional or international associations regarding internships
- Monitor and ease departures and arrivals of the travelers regardless of their nationality
- Escorting foreign statesmen coming to Lebanon and ensuring their security during their stay in Lebanon
Technical Functions:
- Delivering transit permits
- Issuing Lebanese passports
- Delivering permanent and/or temporary residence permits.
- Organizing and delivering traveling documents for the Palestinian refugees residing in Lebanon or coming from abroad
- Issuing entry visas
- Supervising all the procedures regarding naturalization requests and civil status.
- Escorting Lebanese statesmen
